Upon arrival in Cape Town, you will be met in the arrivals area by your local guide holding a name-board. After a warm welcome and brief introduction, take a private airport transfer to your hotel for assistance with check-in. The remainder of the day is at your leisure.
Depart on an informative Cape Town city tour. Highlights of your tour include the South Africa Museum, Cape Castle, and Table Mountain. The South African Museum is a window on the world of natural history, showcasing the bounty of nature, both present and past. See Cape Castle, built by the Dutch in 1666 and was erected as a 5 pointed star on the foreshore of Cape Town. It is today surrounded by a variety of other monuments and places of historical interest. The Castle of Good Hope is the oldest surviving building in South Africa. Later, visit Table Mountain. Since the first person laid eyes on Table Mountain, it has exerted its powerful and charismatic pull, enchanting and drawing any and all who fall under its spell. The best views of Cape Town are seen from the top of Table Mountain. The Cableway summit is under 10 minutes and the cable car’s rotating floor ensures that all passengers have an aerial view of the city. Over the centuries it has become one of South Africa's most famous landmarks. The steep cliffs and rocky outcrops of the mountain play home to a number of plants and animals.
Travel via the 12 Apostles and Hout Bay, as well as Chapmans Peak – one of the region’s most dramatic mountain drives offering amazing panoramic views over the city and environs. Continue to the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, established in 1939 to protect 7750 ha of indigenous flora and fauna. The reserve comes to an end at majestic Cape Point. Situated at the junction of two of earth's most contrasting water masses - the cold Benguela current on the West Coast and the warm Agulhas current on the East Coast, the Cape of Good Hope is popularly perceived as the meeting point of the Atlantic and the Indian Oceans. Guests can take the funicular (optional), to a vantage point offering amazing views of the ‘meeting of two oceans’. Thereafter travel through the historic naval base of Simon's Town where you will enjoy lunch and then visit a colony of African Penguins in their natural environment at Boulders Beach. Later, return to the hotel where you can have the rest of the day at your leisure to relax or maybe do some shopping at the V & A Waterfront.
Meet your local guide for transportation to the airport for your flight to Hoedspruit (not included). On arrival at Hoedspruit Airport, you will be met and then transferred to the Game Reserve. This afternoon, set out on an afternoon game drive in an open safari vehicle.
This morning, you will be taken on an early morning game drive in the private game reserve before returning to the lodge for breakfast. Enjoy the morning and early afternoon at your leisure to enjoy facilities at the lodge. This afternoon, you will head out again for an afternoon game drive before returning for dinner.
Guests will get an early morning wake up call to go on an exciting early morning game drive followed by breakfast served at the lodge. Complete check out formalities and then transfer to the Hoedspruit Airport for your flight to Johannesburg (not included). On arrival in Johannesburg, you will be met and transferred to the hotel for check-in. In the afternoon, depart on a half-day orientation tour of the city. Highlights include the historical buildings of downtown Johannesburg passing Hillbrow and the landmark Post Office tower en route; the 'Top of Africa' at the Carlton Centre; the Brixton Tower; the affluent suburb of Houghton, the Supreme Court, the Nelson Mandela Bridge in Newtown and Constitution Hill - home of South Africa's new Constitutional Court.
Take a full day to explore Soweto. In Soweto (SOuth WEstern TOwnship) guests will see a fascinating contrast to Sandton and Rosebank in the north east. Highlights of this tour include a fascinating glimpse of bustling neighbourhood life; two Nobel Prize winners previous residences; the Hector Peterson Memorial & Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital. Guests will also go on a guided tour of the Hector Pieterson museum where you will embark on a journey of discovery of the racial segregation experienced by millions of South Africans just over a decade ago. The Soweto uprising, the history of the ANC, solitary confinement of political prisoners and the birth of a new democratic country are detailed. After lunch at a local restaurant in Soweto, visit Nelson Mandela’s former house. Nelson Mandela's humble house in Orlando West, Soweto, now called the Mandela Family Museum, is an interesting stopover for those keen to imbibe a slice of authentic history on the world's most famous former prisoner. Return to the hotel in the late afternoon and have the evening at your leisure.
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel and then meet at the appointed time at your hotel for transportation to the airport for your departure flight.
