Fly to Beijing, the political, economic and cultural centre of the People’s Republic of China.
Upon your arrival in Beijing, you will be met for your transportation to the hotel. Receive assistance with check-in and have the remainder of the day at your leisure.
This morning, enjoy your breakfast at the hotel and then meet your guide in the hotel lobby to start your full day tour of the city. Today’s tour includes guided tours of the Temple of Heaven, Tiananmen Square, and Forbidden City, and a visit to the hutong neighbourhoods for insight into an historic area of Beijing that is fading fast. The hutong tour is conducted on foot and by pedicab.

Your local guide will meet you at the hotel to start your full day out together. Today’s tour includes a guided visit to the Great Wall of China with time to discover and climb the wall at your leisure. Upon returning to the city, a visit will be made at the Summer Palace before returning to the hotel for the evening at your leisure.

Fly to Xian and meet to start your orientation of the city. Head to one of Xian’s landmarks, the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, for a walk and discovery of the energetic square nearby before a stop at the City Wall, one of the few of China’s old city walls still standing. Xian’s city wall has a perimeter of 14km, with 12 meter high walls that are 12-14 meters wide at the top. You will have a photo-stop at a part of the City Wall accompanied by your guide’s narrative before checking in to the hotel for the evening at your leisure. A dumpling lunch is included today.

This morning, head to the extraordinary site of the Terra Cotta Warriors for a guided tour with insightful commentary and time to wander about at your leisure. Afterwards, return to the city and enjoy lunch before a walk through the bustling old quarter nearby the Bell & Drum Towers. Later, take some time to marvel at the Tang Dynasty inspired cultural pedestrian streets offering further insight into the Tang period, of which Xian (or Chang’an) was capital.
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel and then transfer to the airport for your flight to the city scenic city of Guilin, a land of beautiful karst formations located on the banks of the meandering Li River. Visit the stunning Reed Flute Cave, a water-eroded cave of various stalactites, stone pillars and rock formations, and then see the city’s icon, the Elephant Trunk Hill, a natural stone landmark of Guilin in the shape of an elephant refreshing itself in the river. Return to the hotel for the evening at your leisure. You may wish to venture off to the night market for some shopping or independent discovery.
Start the day with a scenic boat trip down the Li River offering 30 miles of mist shrouded mountains rising from the riverbanks. Your boat trip is approximately 4 hours on board a shared river boat offering simple comforts and lunch while admiring the stunning scenery along the river before arriving in the colorful town of Yangshuo. Take some time with your guide to acquaint yourself and then head off on your own to discover this charming riverside town. Reconvene at the appointed time with your guide and group members for dinner at a local restaurant followed by transportation back to your hotel in Guilin.

After your breakfast at the hotel, you will be met at the appointed time and then driven to the airport for your flight to the city of Chongqing, your embarkation point to your three night cruise on China’s mother river, the Yangtze. On arrival in Chongqing, time permitting, meet your local guide for an orientation tour of the city followed by dinner and then transportation to the pier to board the ship for your 3 night cruise through the beautiful natural scenery, cultural sights, and majestic Three Gorges of the Yangtze River.
Enjoy your breakfast & lunch on board and some time to relax before your afternoon shore excursion to Shibaozhai, a red hillside temple contrasting nicely with the lush foliage and rocky face of the hill. In addition, an optional excursion, on own account, will be offered to the Fengdu ‘Ghost City’.
We arrive at Badong and disembark for the Shennong Stream excursion and see hanging coffins, natural scenery and hear Tuja Songs. Enter Wu Gorge, known for its quiet beauty, forest-covered mountains and cliffs. Then sail through Qutang Gorge, the shortest, narrowest and most dramatic of all the gorges. An optional excursion will be offered, on own account, to the White Emperor City.
Visit the Three Gorges Dam Site then pass through the Three Gorges Dam 5-stage Shiplocks, the largest hydroelectric project in the world. You will disembark around noon and then transfer to the airport for your flight to Hangzhou where you will be met and then transferred to the hotel for check-in. The rest of the day is free at your leisure.
Take a walk through a Tea Plantation, see one of China’s most notable Buddhist Temples, Ling Yin Temple, take a boat ride on fabled West Lake, and then enjoy some time walking about the Huagang Park and the old street of Qinghefang. Lunch & dinner are included.
In the morning, depart for Huangshan (Yellow Mountain), a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the National Park that gave inspiration for some of the scenes in the movie Avatar. The Yellow Mountains are a picturesque natural landscape where walks, scenery and a colorful sunset offer a different experience in China. En route, take a guided tour of Hongcun Village. Upon your arrival at your hotel, check-in for your two night stay and have the evening at your leisure.
In the morning, meet your guide and take a cable car up to the summit of Huangshan. Visit the North Sea scenic area, Lion Peak, Pentip Peak Shi Xin Peak, and other key sites. Later, in the afternoon take a cable car down and return to the hotel for the evening at your leisure.
Enjoy the morning to explore the old town of Tunxi at your leisure. Enjoy lunch and then travel to Suzhou (approx. 5 hour drive) and check-in to your hotel for your two night stay. The rest of the day is at your leisure.
This morning, visit the impressive Suzhou Museum, built by renowned architect I.M. Pei, and then take a stroll through the typical Qing Dynasty-style Lingering Garden, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Afterwards, take some time to discover Pingjiang Road, an ancient street with shops, cafes, teahouses, and an artsy feel. A boat ride on the Grand Canal is included. Later, stop at the Silk Factory and learn about the city’s history of silk production accompanied by silk demonstrations.
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel and then meet for transportation by road to Shanghai where you’ll enjoy a city tour. Visit the colonial Bund waterfront, lining the Huangpu River with unimpeded views of the modern Pudong Skyline, and then take in the impressive Shanghai Museum before a stroll through the historic & trendy Xintiandi neighbhourhood, a bar, restaurant, café & entertainment district. Among the main features of the district are the mid 19th century Shikumen, or Stone Gate, buildings flanking narrow alleys and streets. Walk about the Yu Garden and the nearby bazaar among the historic architecture of the old city, and then have some shopping time along pedestrian friendly Nanjing Road.
