Upon arrival in Tokyo, you will go through the entry procedures and then you will be met at the exit of customs and then assisted in boarding the airport bus for your transportation to the hotel. The remainder of the day is at your leisure.
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before your tour of Dynamic Tokyo. Enjoy a panoramic view of the city from Tokyo Tower before participating in a traditional Japanese tea ceremony. Savor a Japanese-style lunch, and then take a stroll around the Imperial Palace Plaza & Nijubashi Bridge. Board a cruise for a trip up the Sumida River to Asakusa (Sumida Park from Mar21-Apr12 for cherry blossom viewing). Browse the many colorful stores lining the Nakamise walkway leading up to Sensoji Temple, Tokyo's oldest and most famous Buddhist temple. Tour disbands at Tokyo Station.
Meet at the hotel and drive to Kamakura by motorcoach and visit Kotoku-in Temple and the Great Buddha. Unlike the Great Buddha of Nara, this Buddha is outdoors (Jan-Mar09, 2016 – under construction). Later, visit the Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine and Komachi-dori, one of the preeminent sightseeing spots in Kamakura. The god enshrined here is the protector of the warrior class. Komachi-dori is a street lined with long-running shops, restaurants and souvenir vendors. Enjoy a Japanese-style lunch and then visit Hokoku-ji Temple. Featuring a beautiful bamboo grove, Hokoku-ji is an ancient and renowned temple of the Rinzai sect’s Kencho-ji school. Also on tour, you will enjoy a Matcha Green Tea Experience at the Jomyo-ji Temple, another old temple of the Rinzai sect’s Kencho-ji school, where you wll enjoy some of Japan’s famous powdered matcha green tea in the highly refined and tranquil atmosphere of a tearoom constructed over 400 years ago with views of the temple’s rock garden. Return back to Tokyo admiring the Yokohama Bay Bridge before finishing your tour in either Ginza or Shinjuku.
After breakfast at the hotel, depart by motor coach to see Mt. Fuji, the volcanic mountain that is Japan's national icon. After a Japanese-style lunch, continue the coach ride to Hakone. Enjoy a delightful cruise on Lake Ashi and visit Mt. Komagatake Ropeway for a commanding view of Mt. Fuji, Lake Ashi, Mt. Futago and mountains of the distant Izu Peninsula.
This morning you will be transferred to the Odawara train station to board the bullet train to ancient Kyoto. Upon arrival at Kyoto station, you will be met at the platform and assisted with your transfer to the restaurant for a western-style lunch. Afterwards, join the Nara Afternoon Tour visiting Todaiji Temple, housing one of the largest bronze statues in the world, the Nara Park, popularly called "Deer Park" due to the abundance of deer roaming, the Nara Nagomikan and the Kasuga Shrine located in a forest producing an atmosphere of peace and holiness, unmatched by any other shrine.
Enjoy a full day tour of Kyoto. Visit the famous Nijo Castle, once used as the Tokugawa Shogun's family palace (when closed, visit Ryoanji instead). See the incredible Golden Pavilion, a gilded structure, originally used as a villa by one of China's wealthiest noblemen. Next, visit the Kyoto Imperial Palace, known for its elegant simplicity and which served as the Emperors' palace until the capital was moved to Tokyo (visit Kitano Tenmangu on Saturdays, Sundays, National Holidays and when the palace is closed). After a Japanese-style lunch at a local restaurant, continue exploring Kyoto with visits to Sanjusangendo Temple, a national treasure with 1,030 standing Buddhist statues in its main hall; Heian Jingu Shrine, a well known structure dedicated to Emperor Kammu, and Kiyomizu Temple, noted for its clifftop main hall.
After breakfast at the hotel transfer to Kyoto station via coach to board the JR bullet train to Hiroshima. On arrival in Hiroshima begin sightseeing. Take a ferry to Miyajima Island to see the Itsukushima Shrine, with its famed floating torii gate, designated a World Heritage site by UNESCO. On your return from the island visit the Peace Memorial Park and see the Atomic Bomb Dome
After breakfast at the hotel, transfer to Hiroshima Station. Depart Hiroshima for Kurashiki via the JR bullet train. Upon arrival, visit the Kurashiki Bikan historical quarter. After a western-style lunch at a local restaurant, visit the Ohara Museum of Art, the first private art museum in Japan. Afterwards, take the JR local train to Okayama to visit Koraku-en Garden, one of the three best-landscaped gardens in Japan, and then transfer to Okayama station and depart for Kyoto by JR Bullet Train. Tour ends upon your return to Kyoto by train.
This morning, transfer to the train station to board the local train to Osaka. Upon arrival, visit the Floating Garden Observatory overlooking the city, Awaji Island and Mt. Ikoma. Later, walk to Osaka Station for your local train journey to Osaka Castle Park and visit Osaka Castle and enjoy a river cruise by aqua liner. Return via local train to Kyoto. Tour disbands at Kyoto train station where you may choose to explore at your leisure or have the guide tell you how to return to the hotel.
After breakfast, transfer via MK shuttle bus to Kansai International Airport for your departure flight.
