Upon arrival in Delhi, you will be met by your local guide in the arrivals area holding a name-board. After a warm welcome & brief introduction, you will be transferred to your hotel for check-in. The remainder of the day is at your leisure. Stay two nights in Delhi.
Your tour begins in Delhi, India’s capital city that sports a rich history spanning over 2,000 years. After a short briefing, head out on a tour of Old Delhi, the capital of the Mughal dynasty between the 16th and 19th centuries. Arrive in Old Delhi and visit Jama Masjid - the largest mosque in India built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in year 1650 AD and completed in the year 1656 AD. From here we board our cycle rickshaws for a tour of Chandni Chowk. Here you will get a glimpse into an old world lifestyle slowly fading from Delhi, and then head past the Red Fort (photo stop), and disembark at the Raj Ghat – a memorial to Mahatma Gandhi, set within a beautiful park. Continue the tour passing along Sansad Bhawan (the Parliament House) and Rashtrapati Bhawan (the President’s House). Prior to independence this was the viceroy’s residence. Take a photo stop at India Gate, and then visit two monuments in New Delhi, Humayun's Tomb and Qutub Minar.
This morning, meet and drive to Agra and check-in to your hotel. In the afternoon, enjoy a guided tour of Agra Fort - the seat and the stronghold of the Mughal Empire under successive generations. Approachable by two imposing gates and constructed of red sandstone, the citadel was built by the Mughal Emperor Akbar between the years 1565 and 1573. Encircled by a moat, this dramatic city within a city was the palace of three emperors, Akbar, Shah Jehan and Aurangzeb, each of whom made significant contributions to the wonderful architecture of the inner buildings – a combination of Persian (Islamic) and local Hindu styles. Enjoy the evening at your leisure.
Early morning, visit Taj Mahal (closed on Friday). It is fitting to see this extraordinary monument by the first light of the day as its exemplary beauty is awe-inspiring and will create an unforgettable memory. Afterwards, drive to Jaipur enroute visiting Fatehpur Sikri. Fatehpur Sikri is a fort palace that was the onetime capital of the Mughal Empire and is now a UNESCO world heritage site. The deserted red sandstone city, an outstanding example of Mughal architecture built by the Great Mughal Emperor Akbar as his capital and palace in the late 16th century and abandoned after 15 years due to scarcity of water. Continue the drive to Jaipur and on arrival, check in for your stay.
Visit the mountain fortress of Amber. High above the city, the towers and domes of the Amber Fort are reminiscent of scenes from some fairy tale. Later, take a guided city tour starting with the observatory, Jantar Mantar, and then head to the City Palace Museum, which houses a magnificent collection of artefacts, tapestries, miniature paintings, and arms of the maharajas of Jaipur. You will explore the City Palace and have a photo stop to see the Hawa Mahal (Palace of Winds), and walk through of the colourful markets of Jaipur.
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel, and then meet and transfer back to Delhi and to the international airport for your departure flight.
Day 4: Visit the Taj Mahal in the early morning during sun rise.
Day 5: Explore the impressive Amber fort and City Palace in Jaipur.
