Upon arrival in Amman, you will be met in the arrivals area by your local representative holding a name-board. After a warm welcome and brief introduction, take a private airport transfer to your hotel for assistance with check-in. The remainder of the day is at your leisure.
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel and then Meet your guide for a full day tour of Jerash & Amman. The ancient city of Jerash boasts an unbroken chain of human occupation dating back more than 6.500 years. The city’s golden age came under Roman rule and the site is now generally acknowledged to be one of the best preserved Roman provincial towns in the world. Hidden for centuries in sand before being excavated and restored over the past 70 years, Jerash reveals a fine example of the grand, formal provincial Roman urbanism that is found throughout the Middle East. Comprising of paved and colonnaded streets, soaring hilltop temples, handsome theatres , spacious public squares and plazas, baths, fountains and city walls pierced by towers and gates, you will enjoy a guided tour with expert narrative by your local guide. Afterwards, return to Amman for an orientation tour of the modem and ancient capital of Jordan, known in history as Rabat Amman and in Greco Roman times as Philadelphia. The city is crowned by the Citadel, a hill with the ruins of the Temple of Hercules, and a museum with artifacts dating back to the earliest settlement in the region some 700,000 years ago. At the foot of the Citadel lies the 5,000 seats Roman Theater.
Meet at the hotel and depart for Madaba & Mt. Nebo. The trip south of Amman along the 5,000 year old King’s Highway is one of the most memorable Journeys in the Holy Land, passing through a string of ancient sites. The first city along the way from the north is Madaba, "The City of Mosaics" which has been intermittently inhabited for nearly 3,500 years. The chief attraction in this city is a wonderfully vivid, sixth-century Byzantine mosaic map showing Jerusalem and other holy sites, there are also literally hundreds of other mosaics scattered throughout Madaba in churches and homes. Ten minutes to the west is Mount Nebo, the memorial of Moses, and the presumed site of the prophet's death and burial place. Continue your drive on the King’s Highway, and stop at the Shobak Castle, less than an hour north of Petra. Shobak is an impressive castle and is a lonely reminder of former Crusader glory dating from the same turbulent period as Karak, crowning a cone of rock, which rises above a wild and rugged landscape dotted with a grand sweep of fruit trees below. Afterwards, continue the short drive to Petra where you will check-in for your two night stay.
Petra is a treasure of the ancient world, hidden behind an almost impenetrable barrier of rugged mountains, boasting incomparable scenes that make it the most majestic and imposing ancient site still-standing. The rock-carved rose-red city of Petra is full of mysterious charm. It is the legacy of the Nabataeans, an industrious Arab people who settled in southern Jordan more than 2000 years ago. Admired then for its refined culture, massive architecture and ingenious complex of dams and water channels, Petra is now a UNESCO world heritage site and one of The New 7 Wonders of the World that enchants visitors from all corners of the globe. The approach through the cool gloom of the Siq, a long narrow gorge whose steep rising sides all but obliterate the sun, provides a dramatic contrast with the magic to come. This narrow gorge opens into a natural square dominated by Petra's most famous monument, the Khazneh, more popularly known as the Treasury. Its tall intricately carved façade glows in the dazzling sun. As you go further into this ancient city, it gradually unfolds, one monument leading to the next for kilometer after kilometer. Your local guide will cover most of the main highlights such as the Treasury, Tombs, Colonnade Street, Theatre, Color Caves and Byzantine church
After breakfast, depart Petra and head to Wadi Rum. Uniquely shaped massive mountains rise vertically out of the pink desert sand, which separate one dark mass from another in magnificent desert scenery of strange breathtaking beauty, with towering cliffs of weathered stone. Wadi Rum is probably best known because of its connection with the enigmatic British officer T.E. Lawrence, who was based here during the Great Arab Revolt of 1917-18, and as the setting for the film that carried his name "Lawrence of Arabia". Everywhere in this moonscape place are indications of man's presence since the earliest known times. The valley floors are some 900-1000 meters above sea level, and the great sandstone crags raise sheer, a further 500-550 meters. Jubal Rum is the highest peak in the area and the 2nd highest in Jordan. Others are some 27 km north of the Rum village like Jubal Kharaz and Jubal Burdah with its Rock Bridge which is one of Wadi Rum's most popular attractions. Later, you will check-in to your desert camp for your overnight stay.
Enjoy breakfast at the camp and then depart for Aqaba and check-in to your hotel for you two night stay in this Red Sea resort town.
Enjoy the full day at your leisure.
Depart your hotel in the morning and drive to the Dead Sea, one of the most dramatic places on earth, with its stunning natural environment equally matched by its powerful spiritual symbolism. En route, stop to visit Lot’s Cave, and Bethany, the site of John the Baptist's settlement at Bethany Beyond the Jordan, where Jesus was baptized, and which has long been known from the Bible (John 1:28 and 10:40) and from the Byzantine and medieval texts. On arrival at the Dead Sea, check-in to your Dead Sea resort for your two night stay.
Breakfast is included at the hotel and you will be met at the appointed time for transportation to the airport in Amman for your departure flight.
Day 4: Take a full day to explore the Nabatean Kingdom of Petra.
Day 7: Relax at your Red Sea Resort in Aqaba.
