When does Angkor Open? And, Angkor revises Code of Conduct.
When does the Angkor Park open?
As of January 1, 2016, the hours for the Temples of Angkor are now as outlined below:
All Temples - 7:30am to 5:30pm
Angkor Wat - 5:00am to 5:30pm (except Central Tower which opens from 7:30am)
Srah Srang - 5:00am to 5:30pm
Phnom Bakheng - 5:00am to 7:00pm
Pre Rup Temple - 5:00am to 7:00pm
In addition to the revised opening hours, the Apsara National Authority who is responsible for the 'conservation and sustainable development of Angkor' and whose goals include 'harmonizing tourist experiences with public safety and respect towards the community' have announced a revised 'Visitor Code of Conduct' for the Angkor Archaeological Park. This is primarily a reaction to a spate of 'flashing' in 2015 and instances of damage to the monuments, but the revision also acts to reinforce the importance of respecting the monuments and signposts, dressing appropriately, adhering to the no-smoking rule, not giving money to children in the park, safety and so on.
