Morocco Tours - A Land of Magnificent Contrasts

A country so rich in lore, even the slightest mention of Casablanca, Fez, or Marrakesh paints a mythological masterpiece. Exotic indeed, and with Kasbahs, Medinas, Riads, and Bazaars along with majestic mountain ranges, desert-scapes and beach resorts, the travel experience in Morocco is as varied as it is rich. Meander the narrow maze of alleys in medieval towns, take in the sights and sounds in the Medina of Fez, take a camel ride along the dunes of the Sahara, marvel at the mix of old and new in Casablanca, admire spectacular scenery from crystal-clear rivers, snow-capped mountains, and courtyard gardens, see some of the best-preserved Roman ruins in North Africa, and stand in awe of renowned UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Choose between value-driven scheduled group tours or one of our custom tailor-made trip ideas.

TOP EXPERIENCES IN MOROCCO:

Jemaa el-Fna Square, Marrakesh

Marrakesh’s main square is indeed a mosaic of pleasant madness. See snake-charmers, musicians, acrobats, shops, restaurants, and a dizzying bustle that a traveler holds dear. From morning until night, the activity here is astounding and sure to be a highlight.

Ait Ben Haddou

This UNESCO protected site is a red mudbrick masterpiece of history and Hollywood fame. The group of earthen buildings and houses are reinforced by defensive walls and corner towers showcasing the remains of a former caravan stopping point along the Sahara to Marrakesh.

Medina of Fez

Although no longer the capital, Fez remains the country’s cultural and spiritual center, and the old town preserves a living history of residences, monuments, alleyways, commerce, and pretty much everything in between, making this arguably one of the most notable places in the world to get lost - and then found again. The experience in the medina of Fez is a highlight for many; it’s colorful, rich in life, and truly a joy to the eyes and senses.

Camel Ride in the Sahara Desert

Imagine golden sand dunes with a caravan of camels slowly moving off in the distance. Pretty nice, isn’t it? Now put yourself on one of those camels! One of the many memorable experiences you can expect on a trip to Morocco.

Walk in the Blue City of Chefchaouen

Arguably one of the most beautiful towns in Morocco (no small feat), Chefchaouen boasts bright-blue buildings, and well-kept narrow lanes, and begs for foot exploration. Expect tourists and selfie-sticks, but in a place as pretty as this, we must understand!

BEST TIME TO VISIT:

Climate

The seasons are common to other countries in the Northern Hemisphere with winters from Dec-Feb and summer from Jun-Aug. With this, the most popular time to visit Morocco is during Spring and Autumn. Generally speaking, April-May and Sep-Nov have comfortable weather, but note that Spring sandstorms in the Sahara and rains in the north can be expected in April and October. The summer months can be extremely hot, particularly Fez, Marrakesh, and Southwest Morocco. Winter months can be mild with cooler mornings and evenings. Winter can be a fine time to visit as crowds are less and temperatures reasonable, Spring brings warm and dry weather, Summer can be busy and hot, and Fall is dry, cool, and comfortable. In short, October through April bring pleasant temperatures countrywide.

Entry Regulations

Canadian and US citizens do not require a visa for a stay of up to 90 days. Passports must be valid for at least six months beyond the expected date of your departure from Thailand.

Currency

The official currency is the Moroccan Dirham (Dh).

Electricity

The current used in Morocco is 220V. It is recommended that you bring an international converter and adapter with you.

Language

The official language of Morocco is Arabic and Amazigh (Berber). French is considered the second language of Morocco and is widely spoken and understood. Spanish is common in Northern and Southern Morocco. English is widely spoken in tourist centers.

Health Regulations

For all health requirements and recommendations for travel to morocco, travellers should check with their health authority and/or a travel clinic for the most up to date relevant information.

Cuisine

Moroccan food is rich and inviting with multiple herbs and spices enhancing the culinary experience. Expect couscous, nuts, olives, kebabs, chicken, lamb, seafood, other meats, and a myriad of vegetables and spices. Not unlike the rest of the world, food plays a big part in the Moroccan experience and local hospitality. International dishes abound in hotels and in large city centers.

Shopping

Shopping in Morocco is a common pastime for many travelers with everything from rugs to leatherwork, handicrafts, lanterns, spices, pottery, and more on offer. City centers have modern shopping malls, but expect to do most of your shopping in the markets. Expect to haggle, and haggle hard.
