Upon arrival in Beijing, you will be met in the arrivals area by your local guide holding a name-board. After a warm welcome, take a private airport transfer to your hotel for assistance with check-in. The remainder of the day is free at your leisure.
Your first full day in China’s capital introduces you to the world’s largest city square, Tian’anmen Square, to the north of the Forbidden City, before entering this large Imperial Palace, once the seat of power for nearly 500 years during the Ming & Qing dynasties. The landscaped gardens, historic artifacts, and nearly 10,000 rooms captivate you in what is now called the Palace Museum. Enjoy a guided tour of the Forbidden City and some time to explore at leisure. Later, Beijing’s hutong neighbourhoods lined by traditional courtyard homes will be explored by pedicab before a visit to the National Museum.
Depart the city for your discovery of the Great Wall today. Your guide will provide narrative to the visit followed by time for time to explore at your leisure. When you return to the city, visit the Summer Palace, another of China’s many UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
This morning, head to the Temple of Heaven, famous for its elegance and symmetry, the Temple was built in 1420 A.D. during the Ming Dynasty to offer sacrifice to Heaven. Enjoy a guided tour of the temple and then transfer to the airport for your flight to Xian. On your arrival, visit the Big Wild Goose Pagoda and have the evening free at your leisure.
Visit the extraordinary site of the Terra Cotta Warriors. Not discovered until 1974 by local farmers, the Warriors are among the most fascinating discoveries of modern day. Tour the site with insightful commentary before returning to the city to take a walk through the old quarter and to see the City Wall.
Fly to the city of Chongqing and enjoy a city tour before transferring to the pier to board your river-cruise ship for your three night journey along the Yangtze River.
Enjoy your breakfast & lunch on board and some time to relax before your afternoon shore excursion to Shibaozhai, a red hillside temple contrasting nicely with the lush foliage and rocky face of the hill. Return to the ship for dinner and evening to relax.
Disembark for the Shennong Stream excursion and see hanging coffins, natural scenery and hear Tuja Songs. Enter Wu Gorge, known for its quiet beauty, forest-covered mountains and cliffs, and then sail through Qutang Gorge, the shortest, narrowest and most dramatic of all the gorges.
Visit the Three Gorges Dam Site then pass through the Three Gorges Dam 5-stage Shiplocks, the largest hydroelectric project in the world. You will disembark in the city of Yichang where you will take a flight to Hangzhou. On arrival, check-in for your two night stay.
Take a full day to explore this historic city. Visit the famed Buddhist Ling Yin Temple, take a cruise on West Lake, visit a tea plantation, and then stroll about the old street before having the evening free at your leisure.
Take the high speed train to Suzhou and enjoy a city tour. Highlights include the Suzhou Museum, a classical garden, Pingjiang Road, a silk spinning experience, and more.
Travel to Shanghai en route stopping to visit the canal town of Tongli. On arrival in Shanghai, you’ll check-in and have the rest of the day free at your leisure.
This morning, meet your guide and depart for your full day Shanghai city tour. Highlights include a visit to the Yuyuan Garden and bazaar, a tour of the spectacular Shanghai Museum, a large museum containing ancient Chinese art, and a walk about Shanghai's Old Street. Stroll along the Bund and take a tour of the ultra-modern Lujiazui district.
