Upon arrival in Tokyo, you will go through the entry procedures and then you will be met at the exit of customs and then assisted in boarding the airport bus for your transportation to the hotel. The remainder of the day is at your leisure.
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before your Tokyo morning city tour. Gain panoramic views of Tokyo from the observation deck of Tokyo Tower, and then have a photostop at the stunning Imperial Palace Plaza, where you can savor the splendid view of the moats and walls around the seat of Japan’s imperial household. The tour then takes you through Ueno, famous for its park and street market, on the way to Asakusa. In Asakusa you can browse the many colourful stores lining the Nakamise walkway leading up to Sensoji Temple, Tokyo’s oldest and most famous Buddhist temple. Your tour will disband on arrival at Akihabara or Tokyo Station around noon where you can choose to continue exploring at your leisure or have the tour guide tell you how to return to the hotel. The remainder of the day is at your leisure.
This morning, meet in the hotel lobby and depart Tokyo along the famed Chuo Expressway to Mt. Fuji, en route enjoying a breathtaking view of the sacred Mountain. Your tour includes a stop at the Fuji Visitor Center, a trip up to Mt. Fuji's 5th station at an elevation of 2,300 meters, a cruise on pristine Lake Ashi, and a ride on the Mt. Komagatake Aerial Cableway which boasts great views of the surrounding Hakone National Park. Enjoy a Japanese-style lunch during your tour. After your tour, you will return to Tokyo by coach and the tour disbands on arrival at Shinjuku or Ginza, where you can choose to go out in the nearby area at your leisure or have the tour guide tell you how to return to the hotel.
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel and then you will be met at the hotel and accompanied to the Tokyo Station. At the station you will receive assistance with boarding the JR Super Express train to Kyoto. On arrival at Kyoto station you will be met at the platform and then assisted with getting a taxi (own expense) to your hotel. The afternoon is at your leisure.
Experience Kyoto's 1,200 year history, Japan's capital from 794 to 1868. Visit Nijo Castle, the residence of the Tokugawa era shoguns (when closed visit Ryoanji Temple), and then marvel at the gold-leaf covered Golden Pavilion, which houses sacred relics of Buddha and is surrounded by an exquisitely beautiful garden. Today’s tour also includes the Kyoto Imperial Palace (Visit Kitano Tenmangu instead on Sat., Sun., National Holidays, and any days that the palace is closed). Your tour will end at Kyoto station at around 1pm where you can explore at your leisure or have the guide advise you how to return to your hotel. The afternoon is at your leisure.
Enjoy the morning free at your leisure and then enjoy an afternoon tour to Nara, Japan's first permanent capital. Travel from Kyoto to Nara by bus, where you can visit Todaiji, the largest wooden structure in the world and home of the Great Buddha, the largest Buddha statue in Japan. Mingle with the many deer at Nara Park, and then proceed to Kasuga Taisha Shrine, Nara’s most famous shrine, and Nara Nagomikan before returning to your hotel for the evening at your leisure.
This morning, you will be met at the hotel and then transferred by car with assistance to Osaka, a city steeped in history and culture. It was through the waters of Osaka Bay that art, science and philosophy flowed into Japan. Upon arrival in Osaka, transfer to the hotel for two nights. The rest of the day is at your leisure.
Enjoy the morning at your leisure and in the afternoon you will be met at your hotel for your afternoon walking tour of Osaka. With your guide, head to the station and take the train to visit the remarkable Osaka Castle and then walk to the pier to board the Aqua Liner (water bus) for a 60 minute ride. After your boat ride, walk to Osakajo Koen station for your short ride to Osaka station where your tour will disband at around 4:15-4:45pm. This tour will give you insight into the local culture and Osaka’s pleasant atmosphere while leisurely touring with the local guide.
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel and then transfer by airport limousine bus to Kansai International airport.
