Singapore Tours - The Lion City

From its unique districts to its ultra-modern infrastructure, Singapore has something for every traveller to enjoy. Founded by Chinese fishermen hundreds of years ago and protected by the fictional Merlion, Singapore has grown from a simple fishing village into Asia’s most advanced city and a financial capital with a strong past and an even brighter future. Its Chinese, Malay and Indian districts offer a glimpse into its past with unique food and shopping experiences while modern Singapore is on full display along the Singapore River, where office towers stretch to the sky and futuristic architecture is the norm. Nightly food tours give you a taste of Singapore’s unique and diverse cuisine and a ride on the city’s Singapore Flyer will give you a breathtaking view of this Asian wonder. First impressions mean so much, and when you arrive at Singapore’s Changi Airport you’ll quickly see why this Lion City has soared to the top of world cities. Dine out at hawker markets, walk along the Clarke Quay, and sip on a Singapore sling at the famed Raffles Hotel as you explore this uniquely historic and fascinating city.

TOP EXPERIENCES IN SINGAPORE:

Neighbourhoods Walks

Singapore is culturally diverse, dynamically innovative, and historically charming, and the neighbourhoods around Chinatown, Little India, and Kampong Glam are among the most interesting. For more, discover the vibrant arts & heritage scene in Bras Brasah Bugis, the glamour of Marina Bay, and the cultural heritage at Joo Chiat/Katong, the home of the Peranakans. For some play-time, head to Sentosa Island, Singapore’s favorite leisure destination with beaches, resorts, and Universal Studios.

Hawker Centers

The diversity of Singaporean cuisine is best experienced through the local street fare. Influenced greatly by Malay, Indian & Chinese cultures, and what was first peddled along the streets of a bygone era, Singaporean cuisine has deep roots and helps to put the city’s heritage in perspective. The city’s hawker stalls are renowned and among the best ways to immerse yourself. Find Hawker centers all through the city.

Singapore Flyer

A new addition to Singapore’s skyline, this giant observation wheel offers 360 degree panoramic views.

Shopping

Next to eating, shopping may be a close second to a favorite pastime for visitors and locals alike. Shopping can be a simple market walk to an upscale department store or retail shop along shopping streets. The famed 2 kilometer shopping extravaganza that is Orchard Road is the most popular. Check out Orchard Central, ION Orchard, and Knightsbridge for some of Orchard Road’s best shopping.

Clarke Quay

Take in the colorful and historic Clarke Quay, an area buzzing with activity with numerous restaurants, bars, clubs and retail outlets in five blocks of restored warehouses located nearby the Singapore River.

BEST TIME TO VISIT:

Climate

Singapore has a tropical climate with hot & humid weather all year round. Temperatures usually reach over 30°C. The two monsoon seasons are from November to mid-March and June to September, but you should be prepared for rain at any time, which can be heavy but usually brief. The heaviest rainfall occurs between November to January.

Entry Regulations

Canadians citizens do not require a visa for a stay of up to 30 days and American citizens do not require a visit for up to 90 days. Passports must be valid for at least six months beyond the expected date of your departure from Singapore.

Currency

The official currency is the Singapore Dollar (SGD).

Electricity

The current used in Singapore is 220AC/240AC, 50HZ. This system may differ from the one you use at home. We suggest purchasing an adapter to take with you.

Language

The official languages are English, Malay, Mandarin, and Tamil. Most Singaporeans are bilingual and speak English, which is used as the main language of communication.

Health Regulations

Vaccination certificates are not required unless coming from an infected area. For all health requirements and recommendations, travellers should check with their health authority for the most up to date information.

Shopping

Since Singapore is a duty-free port, prices of many goods such as electronic and electrical products and jewelry tend to be reasonable. Shopping is often on top of most visitors must-do lists, and with the numerous shops, markets, department stores, malls and outlet stores, there is a wide array of choice. Places of interest include, but are not limited to, Kampong Glam, Orchard Road, Chinatown, Bugis Junction, and the Suntec City Mall.

Cuisine

Singapore is a culinary adventure from Michelin-starred restaurants to some of the world’s best & humble food stalls. The city’s hawker stalls are renowned and among the best ways to immerse yourself, but from hawker centers to the vibrant fine-dining scene, Singapore has achieved international accolades for everything from local dishes to international specialties, and a fusion of all. Known as a key reason to keep coming back, food in Singapore is, to some, a key attraction.
