Thailand Tours - The Land of Smiles

Thailand is a radiant and high-spirited land of glittering temples, bucolic countryside, mountain villages, tranquil beaches and seaside towns. Cultured and fun, exotic and alive, she will hold on until well after you’ve departed. Known as the land of smiles, the Thai’s are a charming and generous lot, and with some of the world’s best cuisine, it’s no wonder why. Golden Buddhas, ornate temples and reaching spires are as much a part of the modern landscape as the spiritual past, and with cluttered cities and sleepy rural villages, an experience in Thailand is a colorful adventure in contrasts. Bangkok stands strong as one of Asia’s most vibrant and exciting cities, but it’s the perspective gained as you hike to hill tribe villages, participate in the ‘tak bat’ Buddhist collection of alms, and the friends you make as you playfully haggle the market stallholder down a few extra Baht, that weave the fabric into the patchwork that is contemporary Thailand. Take long tail boats to riverside communities, navigate the bustle of floating markets, admire the ruins of an ancient kingdom, and tie-up a hammock on some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, you’ll be pinching yourself for weeks.

TOP EXPERIENCES IN THAILAND:

Beaches

The postcard white sandy beaches with limestone karst pillars rising sharply from the sea are found in Southern Thailand, and most would argue that these rank among the best in the world. More beaches are found within driving distance of Bangkok, and others more difficult to reach. Either way, beach holiday planning in Asia starts with Thailand.

Chiang Mai Night Market

The hub of northern Thailand, Chiang Mai is a charming city with a small-town feel boasting an old town, timeless temples, breathtaking mountain communities, and a lively night market. A maze of streets, the night bazaar is Chiang Mai’s most popular evening out.

Bangkok's Klongs

The canals that branch off of Bangkok’s Chao Phraya ‘River of Kings’ offer an excellent glimpse into city life away from the activity of busy streets. See communities along the water, watch long tail boats cruise by, and observe as city life plays out along the river banks.

Ayutthaya & Sukhothai

Both once Siamese capitals, the remains are not only historic but grand and impressive. If the image of Thailand with temple ruins, Buddhist monuments, stone stupas and saffron-clad monks draws your interest, both of these UNESCO World Heritage Sites fit the bill.

Rural Villages & Hill Tribe Traditions

The image of homes on stilts, rural communities, and traditional hill-tribe attire, is synonymous with Southeast Asia, and Thailand remains one of the best places to immerse yourself among the culture and to explore away from the cities and towns. Take treks through the mountains to traditional villages for the night, or just explore for the day. This is Thailand.

BEST TIME TO VISIT:

Climate

Thailand is generally very hot, particularly between March and May. The monsoon season runs from June to October, when the climate is still hot and humid with torrential rains. The best time for travel is November to February (cool season), although the southern islands are best from June to September.

Entry Regulations

Canadians citizens do not require a visa for a stay of up to six months and American citizens do not require a visit for up to 30 days. Passports must be valid for at least six months beyond the expected date of your departure from Thailand.

Currency

The official currency is the Thai Baht (THB).

Electricity

The current used in Thailand is 220AC / 50HZ. This system may differ from the one you use at home. We suggest purchasing an adapter to take with you.

Language

The official language in Thailand is Thai along with hundreds of local dialects. English is widely spoken in city centers and tourist facilities.

Health Regulations

Vaccination certificates are not required unless coming from an infected area. For all health requirements and recommendations, travellers should check with their health authority for the most up to date information.

Shopping

Thailand is one of the best places in Asia for bargain hunting and visitors will be spoilt for choice with the huge shopping malls, department stores, small shops and bustling street markets. Both Bangkok and Chiang Mai have excellent weekend & night markets. Good buys include Thai silks and cottons, leather goods, batiks, silver and gold, precious and semiprecious stones, pearls, painted umbrellas, lacquer ware, pewter ware, bamboo, wood artifacts and bronze ware.

Cuisine

Thai cuisine is distinctive, thanks to liberal use of spicy ingredients, and is a world renowned cuisine. It combines the best of Chinese and Indian culinary traditions while retaining its own very special character. International food is also abundant in city centers.
