Upon your arrival at the International Airport in Danang, meet and transfer to your hotel in the nearby town of Hoi An, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Today, visit the Cham Museum in Danang, pass by famed ‘China Beach’, and then take a walking tour of Hoi An’s old town before having the evening free at your leisure..
Take a morning boat cruise to a nearby village where you will see a shipbuilding yard and then cycle through the village with stops at old colonial houses, temples and local cottage factories. Drive onward to another local village before a walk to a farm to discover traditional gardening methods and the rural lifestyle. Taste some local specialties and indulge in a traditional herbal footbath. The remainder of the day is free to explore Hoi An at your leisure.
Depart Hoi An and continue your drive along steep mountainous roads with spectacular views of the coastline, crossing the dramatic Hai Van Pass, the high dividing line between the climate zones of north and south Vietnam, and then past paddy fields, local villages, and the Lang Co Lagoon, before arriving in Hue, the old imperial capital of Vietnam. In Hue, visit the Imperial Citadel and theTomb of Emperor Tu Duc. The evening is free at your leisure.
The tranquil villages and picturesque countryside make Hue an ideal place for cycling. We will cycle through bamboo groves and villages to the Thanh Toan Covered Bridge, and then continue the journey by meandering along paths to a local market and Pagoda. Upon the completion of your cycling tour, return back to the hotel to relax and freshen up. Note that if you are not interested in cycling, this excursion can be adjusted to better suit your interests. In the afternoon, visit the Tha Om Garden House to discover the friendliness and hospitality of the owner's family and to taste traditional Hue confectionaries. This complex is a fully working replica of a traditional 19th century Hue garden house complete with lotus ponds and trees and makes for an excellent stop providing further insight into local life. Later, you`ll head to the seven-storey Thien Mu Pagoda, a symbol of Hue, located on a hill on the bank of the Perfume River. During your visit, you`ll see the daily Buddhist prayer recital before taking a sunset boat ride back to the city and to your hotel.
