Take a full day guided tour of Old & New Delhi. Highlights include a rickshaw ride through Old Delhi’s narrow alleys and bustling streets, the Jama Masjid, Raj Ghat Memorial to Gandhi, a Sikh Temple, Humayun’s Tomb, India Gate and much more.
Travel to Agra and visit the Agra Fort, the seat and stronghold of the Mughal Empire, before heading to a Mughal garden for a breathtaking view of the Taj Mahal in the late afternoon, a pre-cursor to your guided visit the following morning.
This morning, visit the Taj Mahal at dawn to see the sunrise over this impressive monument. Tour the site with your guide and take some time at leisure before returning to the hotel for breakfast followed by your departure onward to Jaipur. En route stop at the site of Fatehpur Sikri, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Take the morning to visit the sprawling Amber Fort and then stop at the famed Monkey Temple (Galta Ji), an impressive temple built of pink sandstone that is a pre-historic Hindu pilgrimage site, before returning to the hotel in the afternoon. Later, begin your special celebration of the Festival of Lights (Diwali) as you join a family at their private haveli home. See a special prayer ceremony and then fireworks, rangoli, flower work decoration, cultural folk dances and more, followed by dinner with a noble family. You will be treated as a guest of the family through your visit, a unique an authentic experience sure to be a highlight of your travels through India.
Take a full day guided tour of Jaipur including visits to the City Palace and Jantar Mantar Observatory, a stop at the Hawa Mahal ‘Palace of Winds’, and some time in the markets of bustling downtown Jaipur.
Meet at the hotel for your early morning transportation to the train station for your train journey to Jodhpur where you will be met for your drive to your camp in Manvar, an ideal base to explore Indian desert life, culture, wildlife, and impressive landscapes. Enjoy the evening at leisure.
Take the full day to experience local desert life. What better way to spend a day than on camel back, gazing at groups of frisky chinkara - shy Indian gazelle - as they make their way across the silent sands, see herds of cattle and sheep roaming around, sometimes grazing, sometimes wandering, as if under the watchful eye of a greater shepherd in a cloud-less sky. Enjoy some time at leisure for independent exploration. The evening is livened up by camp fire, mashaals (Indian camp fire torches), and local musicians and dancers. The experience of sitting on a cushion on the dunes by candlelight while mouth-watering snacks are served to you is truly memorable. Enjoy a short camel ride up to the dunes located near the camp site to witness the sunset.
After your breakfast, depart the hotel and head to the city of Jodhpur, en route stopping in a rural Bishnoi village for insights into local traditions and lifestyle. In the afternoon, take a guided tour of the commanding Mehrangarh Fort, the most impressive in Rajasthan. Perched high on a rocky cliff, Mehrangarh Fort affords panoramic views and showcases relics of a bygone era amongst a dramatic backdrop of a Raj grandeur.
Depart Jodhpur and across the Aravalli hills passed colourful Rajasthani countryside life. On the way, you’ll stop at the Ranakpur Temple, one of the five important pilgrim sites of the Jain community. The Ranakpur Temple does not disappointment with it’s gleaming white pillars, intricate friezes and a picture-perfect backdrop of one of the oldest mountain ranges in the world, the Aravalli. On arrival in Udaipur, you’ll have the evening free at your leisure.
Take a full day guided tour of Udaipur’s sites. Highlights include the lakeside City Palace, the Sahelion ki Bari garden, Jagdish Temple, and a boat ride on picturesque Lake Pichola.
