Upon arrival in Delhi, you will be met by your local representative in the arrivals area holding a name-board. After a warm welcome & brief introduction, you will be transferred to your hotel for check-in. The remainder of the day is at your leisure. Stay two nights in Delhi.
Explore Delhi, India’s capital city that sports a rich history spanning over 2,000 years. Arrive in old Delhi and ride in a cycle rickshaw (pedicab) through the bustling streets of Chandni Chowk. Discover the Jama Masjid, Delhi’s oldest mosque, before learning about the history of the Sikh religion at the Sheeshganj Gurudwara. Continue to Raj Ghat, the memorial to Gandhi, built at the site of his cremation on the banks of the Yamuna River. In the afternoon, drive past India Gate and the Government Secretariat buildings on the way to the Qutab Minar - the five-storied victory tower to signify the beginning of the Muslim rule in India by the first Muslim ruler, Qutab-ud-din Aibak followed by a visit to Humayun Tomb.
Today, you will travel by road to Agra, home to the Taj Mahal. On arrival, check-in to your hotel. In the afternoon, proceed on a visit to the Agra Fort, the seat and the stronghold of the Mughal Empire under successive generations. This was the seat of Mughal rule and administration and the present structure owes its origins to Akbar who erected the walls and gates and the first buildings on the eastern banks of Yamuna River.
Early morning, visit Taj Mahal (closed on Friday). It is fitting to see this extraordinary monument by the first light of the day as its exemplary beauty is awe-inspiring and will create an unforgettable memory. Afterwards, drive to Jaipur visiting Fatehpur Sikri en route. On arrival in Jaipur, you will check-in to the hotel and have the evening free at your leisure.
Visit the mountain fortress of Amber. High above the city, the towers and domes of the Amber Fort are reminiscent of scenes from some fairy tale. Later, take a guided city tour starting with the observatory, Jantar Mantar, and then head to the City Palace Museum, which houses a magnificent collection of artefacts, tapestries, miniature paintings, and arms of the maharajas of Jaipur. You will explore the City Palace and have a photo stop to see the Hawa Mahal (Palace of Winds), as well as some time to visit the bustling markets and downtown area of the city.
The morning is free at your leisure for independent discovery. For those heading home, you will be met at the hotel in the afternoon for transportation back to Delhi and to the airport. For those taking an optional post tour, you will be met at the hotel to start your trip.
Day 4: Visit the Taj Mahal in the early morning during sun rise.
